Perrin Briar – Z-Minus, Book 1
Hello there,
for those people, who want to read this review in german, please click here.
Just by a chance, I was stumbled on goodreads about this book. It sounds good to me and because of the cheap prize, I decided to buy it. And I have no regrets! 🙂
What’s the Story?
Once infected, the virus shuts down organs, kills nerve impulses and even reprograms the way we think. The virus becomes us.
But the process takes eight hours.
If you only had eight hours left to live, what would you do?
For Chris Smith, that decision has been made for him. He’s infected, and returns home to find the rest of his family undead or missing, save his youngest daughter Maisie. He’s never been much of a father, but can he make up for it now in the final few hours of his life and find somewhere safe for her to survive?
Perrin Briar
He has written for BBC radio, and worked in the production and development departments of the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
My Opinion
In the beginning, I had some problems to get in to the story. Maybe it was because of my rusty school-english, that it was not running so perfectly round. Luckily, a few pages later, I finally get into it. The Characters were very well described. The whole time of reading, I was feverish with Chris, if he gets his young daughter maisie to a safe place before he turns in to a zombie.
Unfortunately, i didn’t like the scene with the teenage girl, it was misplaced und much more questionable to me.
The Book had a few very funny moments, full with dark humour, so sometimes I had to smile. That brought back a few sympathy points for itself.
All in all it was a exciting father/ daughter / zombie story for me with a surprising end. I’am looking forward to the second part!

Hihi, ich habe gerade unsere Englischlehrerin in meinem Kopf gehört… Sie würde dich für das kleingeschriebene „I“ an manchen Stellen steinigen. Aber schöne Rezension, die sich wirklich gut liest 🙂
